The China Seismological Reference Model project
Professor Wen is the proposer and the team leader of the China Seismological Reference Model (CSRM) project that was initiated by the National Natural Science Foundation of China in 2016. The CSRM project has two primary goals: (1) the CSRM would serve as a primary source for the current state of seismological research in China, and (2) the seismic data and constraints used to construct the CSRM would be used as a backbone open-access cyberinfrastructure for future research in seismology. The CSRM project was also intended to promote data exchange and scientific collaboration in seismology in China.
Grand Challenges on Earthquake Hazard Mitigation in China
Professor Wen is the lead author of a designated report entitled "Grand Challenges on Earthquake Hazard Mitigation in China" to the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the China Earthquake Administration, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China in 2011.
The report identifies seven grand challenges and proposes two major projects in the earthquake hazard mitigation in China. For each grand challlenge, the report reviews the current scientific frontiers, identifies the key scientific issues and makes specific recommendations. To meet the grand challenges, the report proposes two major projects of building a national infrastructure for seismic observations and an education outreach project for seismology.
